SRM Internal Marks Calculator
Official 40-mark internal assessment structure · All values auto-converted
Understanding your internal assessment structure is key to planning your academic performance.
At SRM University, the total marks for any subject are divided into two parts: Internal Assessment (40 marks) and End-Semester Examination (60 marks). Together they form your final score of 100 marks, which determines your letter grade and grade points.
Internal marks are earned throughout the semester through continuous assessment activities — Cycle Tests, Assignments, and Attendance. These marks are recorded by your faculty and submitted to the university before the end-semester exam begins.
This calculator uses the official SRM University internal marks formula to instantly convert your raw Cycle Test scores (out of 50) to their weighted equivalents (out of 15 each) and combine them with your Assignment and Attendance marks to give you an accurate total out of 40.

Official Formula
How Internal Marks are Calculated
SRM University uses a straightforward weighted conversion formula for internal marks.
CT1 Internal Marks = (CT1 Score ÷ 50) × 15
CT2 Internal Marks = (CT2 Score ÷ 50) × 15
Assignment Marks = Direct score (0 – 5)
Attendance Marks = Based on % slab (0 – 5)
Total Internal Marks = CT1 + CT2 + Assignment + Attendance (Max = 40)
For example: if you scored 42 in CT1, 38 in CT2, 5 in Assignment, and 4 in Attendance, your internal marks = (42÷50×15) + (38÷50×15) + 5 + 4 = 12.6 + 11.4 + 5 + 4 = 33 out of 40.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about SRM internal marks and this calculator.
Internal Marks (also called Continuous Assessment or CA marks) are scored through in-semester activities: two Cycle Tests, assignments, and attendance. They contribute 40 marks out of the total 100 for most subjects.
Internal marks = Cycle Test 1 (converted to 15) + Cycle Test 2 (converted to 15) + Assignment (5 marks) + Attendance (5 marks) = 40 marks total. This calculator handles all the conversions automatically.
Students must score at least 40% of the internal mark total to be eligible to appear in the end-semester exam. For a 40-mark internal, that means a minimum of 16 marks out of 40.
Cycle Test 1: 50 marks (converted to 15), Cycle Test 2: 50 marks (converted to 15), Assignment: 5 marks, Attendance: 5 marks. Total = 40 marks.
You can still pass the internal component if you score well in other components. However, consistently low scores will reduce your eligibility for higher grades in the final result.
Yes! The internal marks structure (40 marks) is standard across all SRM University branches including CSE, ECE, IT, AI-ML, Mechanical, Civil, and others under both 2018 and 2021 regulations.
